The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Model

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel provides the perfect model of what a modern newsroom should be doing. With the increased use of social media, it is beneficial for reporters to use social media to their advantage. MJS editors provide their reporters with training specific to social media. Editors teach their reporters on how to get started on social media and how to effectively use it to better their reporting. While young reporters may have experience with this medium, it is necessary to bring older reporters up to speed on this digital resource. I think it’s exciting that Wisconsin’s own MJS is leading the way, while big newspapers aren’t doing anything like this.
